“I want to be like Jesus!” We hear this a lot among Christians and also in sermons and Bible studies. Does this mean just to be a “just a nice person”? Or does this mean to be like Him and do what Jesus modeled for us to follow as His disciples? – preach the gospel, make disciples, heal the sick, cast out demons and raise the dead? Do you think Jesus was just another nice person? Or was He operating in the fullness of God’s power and authority? There are plenty of “nice people” out there and to be nice you don’t need to be like Jesus. I have plenty of agnostics, atheists and pagan worshiping friends who are great people. Doesn’t make them Jesus like. If Christians want to be like Jesus they need to be ready for the “whole deal” and not just go around with a smile saying praise the lord brother or sister and hug them. Just like works without love or compassion is useless so is faith without works. James 2:14-26, 1Cor 13:1-3; Mark 16:15-18. Seek the real deal. The full Gospel!
