What are our THOUGHTS when we walk ‘through the valley’? King David said ‘Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil because I know you are with me’. David did say “through the valley”. He was in the trouble, crisis or calamity and not anticipating some far distant potential danger. In the midst of the battle he was triumphant in his heart in his spirit knowing and believing that the Spirit of God Almighty is with him and protecting him so there was no fear. His emotions and human thinking were well connected to his spirit which gave him strength to face the challenges fearlessly. Our thoughts are extremely crucial when we are in a crisis mode.
Do we believe that God is with us and for us, do we believe that the Holy Spirit of God is leading and guiding us and His guardian angels are warring against the forces of evil around us? Can we move boldly and confidently through the valley without fear? We are all human and our fleshly emotions immediately begin to fear of “what if it’s the worst”. We need to practice thinking bold and confident thoughts and eliminate fear by speaking against it and declaring God’s protection over our thoughts and emotions (Psalms 91 is a great one to declare). We speak God’s love over us by confessing, repenting and surrendering everything to Him.
Then in our daily prayers we can pray. Abba Father I know you love me, I surrender myself to you. Help me believe in you and trust in you at all times. Remove every fear, doubt and unbelief in me. I know you cover and protect me from the wicked one. I know that you love me so deeply and unconditionally. Help me to trust you more. Even though I walk through the valley of fear of danger and evil I know you protect me and your plans for me are for my good and you continually bless me with your favor. I love you Lord. In Jesus precious name. As we pray this prayer every day, the spirit of fear and unbelief leaves us and will have no stronghold in our thoughts and emotions.
