The bible is the authority for Christian faith. In the New Testament, people were called Christians because their behavior, activity, and speech were like Christ Jesus. Today some people call themselves Christian because they sometimes go to church, said a “sinner’s prayer”, pray when in trouble, or was born in a family of Christians; they have no relationship with Christ. These “Christians” serve a different master (Satan) because of the sin in their lives. Jesus tell us that we cannot serve two masters; “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other” (Matt 6:24).
Many of these “Christians”, proclaim sin is not a sin today because everyone is doing it, or because the bible was written in a different time and is not for today. Where does God tell us that His word was only for the time it was written? Jesus says “He is the same yesterday, today and forever” (Heb 13:9). As for being a follower of those that sin (everybody’s doing it), we are told in 1Cor 5:11 “… do not associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one”. And, in 2 Cor 6:14, it says “Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?” Jesus has warned us against fellowship with those walking in sin.
Many people that do not want to be judged for sin or promote others to sin, say that the bible was written by flawed men and people cannot take it seriously. 2 Tim 3:16 says that “man wrote a bible inspired by God”. God has done in the Bible something no other holy book has ever dared to do. He based its credibility upon His ability to tell the future with one hundred percent accuracy. No man can do that. Man is flawed, not God.
Trying to serve two masters, people pick and choose what they want to believe from the Bible. Either you believe or you don’t believe the word of God. God says that “because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth (Rev 3:16). He says “these people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.” (Isa 29:13). One cannot serve two masters. Satan will accept your halfhearted commitment because he knows God will not.
