It saddens me when I read about people, or talk to people, who have lost faith because of unanswered prayer. I always ask, “do you know the conditions to getting your prayer answered”? First of all, we know that we cannot put God in a box, meaning don’t limit Him or say what He will or will not do not do. Second, did you know that there are conditions to most of God’s promises. When it comes to prayer, two or three scriptures need to be acknowledged:
- John 15:7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
- 1 John 3:22 And whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.
- 1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.
What does “abide” and “keeping His commandments” mean? Direct and to the point, it means removing sin from your life.
What does “according to his will mean? It means if it is not what God has planned for your life, He will not answer it.
Many of those asking for prayer are unmarried people that are living together or are having pre-marital sex. They are offended when I state the obvious. Please don’t get upset with me, I am only stating what is written in the word of God. Fornication and adultery is a sexual sin that most of those involved in usually ignore. What I don’t understand is how can one read 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 – “fornicators nor adulterers will enter the kingdom of heaven“ and remain in the sin? Don’t get mad with God because you want His blessing on your sinful life.
