Adam and Eve walked in the Garden of Eden with God naked and unashamed (Genesis 2:25).  After their sin of disobedience, they immediately opened their eyes and realized that they were naked. They were so ashamed of their nakedness they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves (Genesis 3:6). Everything was out in the open and exposed until sin entered.

God wants us to be naked and unashamed before Him. Nakedness means to be open and transparent. When we sin or are angry with God, do you think He does not know it? He wants you to confess your sin and hurts to Him; this way the enemy cannot use it against you. Sin can cause shame – shame of what we have done or what has been done to us. God promises that if we come to him naked, He can take away our shame (Isaiah 54:4). He also tells us that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ (Romans 8:1).

A true deliverance process will include being “naked” before the Lord. Steps to being “Naked and Unashamed”:

  1. First we must recognize our sin; (Ps 51: 3-4) “For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned and done what is evil in Your sight
  2. Remorse for the sin; Paul says there must be godly grief, a grief that admits offences against God;
    (2 Cor 9-10) “I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, so that you might not suffer loss in anything through us.  For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.
  3. We must hate the sin; (Ps 97:10) “Hate evil, you who love the LORD, Who preserves the souls of His godly ones;
  4. We must remove the sin from our life; (Is 1:16) “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight. Cease to do evil,

If we treat repentance as a change of heart, then and only then, will we be able to free ourselves from the spirits that condemn and cause the shame that we carry. True repentance will release us from shame and bring joy knowing we have been forgiven by the Lord.
