We Believe…

Bible

We believe that the Bible is the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

(II Timothy 3:16) (2Peter 1:21)

God

We believe there is one God in whom there are three distinct persons: Father, Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. He is Omnipotent (Jer. 32:17, 27), Omnipresent (Psalm 139:7) and Omniscient (1 John 3:20). He is the Creator of life and should be worshipped in truth and spirit. There were no gods created before or after Him in all of existence, in all places, in all time.

(Isaiah 43:10) (Isaiah 44:6) (1 Tim. 1:17) (Gen. 24:26) (Ex. 4:31) (1 Cor. 14:25) (Rev. 7:11)

Jesus

We believe the Word that became a man with two natures: human and divine. The penalty for sin is death; so He died for our sins so that we could have a relationship with God (Substitutionary Atonement). Jesus rose from the dead after being in the grave for three days. He ascended bodily into heaven, sits at the right hand of God, and rules heaven and earth.

(Phil. 2:5-11; Col. 2:9) (1 Tim. 3:16) (Heb. 1:5-13) (John 1:1-3, 14)

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person, sent to indwell, empower, and guide the believer. We believe in the work of the Holy Spirit through ordinary people; that the gifts of the Spirit are relevant for today and will not cease until the return of Christ.

(1 Cor.13:8-10) (1 Corinthians 12:4-11, 28) (1 Cor. 14: 2-4, 14-19) (Romans 12:6-8)

Trinity

We believe God, is three distinct persons, not three distinct gods. The word “Trinity” is a term used to denote the Christian doctrine that God exists as a unity of three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

(Gen. 1:26-273:22) (Matt. 3:1728:19) (Luke 9:35) (2 Cor. 13:14)

Virgin Birth of Christ

We believe Mary, Jesus’ mother, was blessed but was not without sin. Mary was a virgin when she conceived Jesus.
(Isaiah 7:14) (Matthew 1:18-23) (Luke 1:42) (Matt. 1:25)

Salvation

We believe Salvation is obtained by grace and faith—not by works. It is a gift from God given to those that believe in His Son Jesus and accept Him as the Lord of their life.

(Rom. 3:20) (Eph. 2:8-9) (2 Thess. 2:13) (John 3:16)

Baptism

We believe baptism is an outwardly expression of an inward faith in Jesus Christ. It is not necessary for salvation and does not save.

(Gal. 2:16, 21) (Phil. 3:9) (Matthew 28:18-20) (Mark 1:4-11) (Rom. 3:28-30, 4:3, 5:1)

Condition of Man

We believe God created man in His own image. With the fall of Adam and Eve through disobedience, humanity fell into a state of sin and spiritual death. Man is a three part being, body, soul and spirit that is corrupt and wicked. All men are born spiritually dead with a sinful nature, and can be saved only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ:

    • Man is unable to come close to God through his own efforts
    • Man understands the spiritual things of God on his own
    • Man is not born again of his own will
    • Man cannot earn salvation by good works

It is the working of the Holy Spirit, faith, trust in the redemptive sacrificial work of Christ, and the renewing of the mind that changes the condition of man.

(Eph. 2:1-3) (Rom. 6:23) (John 6:44) (Rom. 3:10-12) (1 Cor. 2:14) (Rom. 8:7) (John 1:13) (Eph. 2:8-9) (Rom. 4:1-6) (Gal. 3:1-3) (Romans 12:2)

Resurrection

We believe that Jesus rose from the dead after being in the grave for three days. He ascended bodily into heaven, sits at the right hand of the Father, and rules heaven and earth.

(John 2:19) (Luke 24:39)

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost—some are saved unto the resurrection of life and some are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. We all will be judged.

(1 Corinthians 15:35-54) (Philippians 3:21)

Heaven & Hell

We believe there is a real ‘Heaven’ and a real ‘Hell’. Where we spend our eternity is determined by which one we choose while we are alive.

(Revelation 20:11-15, 21: 22-27, 20:10-15) (Hebrews 9: 27-28) (John 5:28-29) (Romans 2:8,9) (Matthew 25:41,46) (Romans 2:7,10)

Spiritual Realm

We believe in a spiritual realm of angels and demons. A Christian can have demons but cannot be totally possessed. Spirits can attack the body and the mind but cannot take the spirit. We also believe Jesus gave Christians the authority to “cast out” demons and “heal the sick” through the power of the Holy Spirit.

(1Pe 5:8) (2Co 11:4) (Matt 12:45) (Eph. 6 10-17) (James 4:7) (2Co 4:4) (Eph. 9:6) (Col 1:16) (Luke 10:17) (Luke 9:1)
